It's been awhile

It's a beautiful rainy fall day in Texas. The kids are playing nicely (or at least quietly). Steve is shredding about 7 years worth of old bank statements, bills, and receipts. And I finally get a few minutes to add some pictures to the blog.

We visited the beach a couple of times this summer. We like to go to Mustang Island, about three hours south of here near Corpus Christi. The kids love it there. Ty and Maddy are little water bugs, but Lily prefers to play in the sand.

Bonus: the kids usually fall fast asleep on the way back.

The kids and I drove out to Georgia in late July to visit family. While it was great to see everyone, I will never again drive that far alone with the kids.

Ty started pre-k in August. San Antonio passed a small PreK4SA tax last November, and two new public pre-k schools were developed and built for this year. Ty is part of the inaugural class at the PreK4SA South Center. It's been an adjustment- he goes to school 5 days a week, unlike the 2 days he used to go, plus we have to drive a little ways to drop him off and pick up- but he absolutely loves it.

With his teacher, Mrs. Ortiz.

Ty also joined a new local soccer league this year, SAYSAT. It's a LOT bigger than the YMCA league he was in last year, which isn't necessarily a good thing. But he enjoys it, and Steve has become the unofficial assistant coach (and head coach at times).

Lily can't wait to start playing next year. She's a natural.

Sometimes Ty plays so hard that he crashes out afterwards.

In between beach trips, school, and soccer, we try to get as much down time around the house as possible.

Football season is here!

My friend Tynisha made these cute cupcakes for Lily's birthday.
